The Development of Faith & Play Stories
“Faith & Play” refers to Quaker stories developed, tested and approved by the Faith & Play Group. Story development is deep work. Each story follows its own path, and the process cannot be hurried. When an individual member of the group finds that a story rises in them or they have a leading to contribute a story we have identified a need for, they bring the first draft to the group, and it is turned over to collaborative discernment and editing. We stay open to leadings and new insights and work together in relationship with our co-creators and with Spirit. The focus is on process and it can take months or years to write, revise, test and receive feedback, and develop materials for a story. The Faith & Play Group works on stories together when we can meet in person and during the times in between, we’re testing stories in circles of children and among Friends, gathering feedback from others, and listening for new openings about a story and its accompanying materials.
Faith & Play Stories are published by Quaker Press of FGC and carried by the online bookstore QuakerBooks. The 2017 second edition of “Faith & Play: Quaker Stories for Friends Trained in the Godly Play Method" was published with a generous grant from Obadiah Brown’s Benevolent Fund.
New stories are always in the works! Stories have a way of choosing their own time to be born, and we are confident that when the time is right stories find their way to us.
